Feeling anxious and stressed is the body’s normal response to danger that sends us into ‘fight or flight’ mode. So absolutely necessary in the appropriate situation. What is unhelpful is having this response when it’s not so appropriate. In ‘fight or flight’ we are ready to fight or run, so one of the best things you can do when your body is full of those stress hormones is to exercise. Some tips for using exercise to reduce stress:
*Do exercises that work your leg muscles (try squats)
*Jog on the spot
*Climb the stairs
*Take a brisk walk
*Use short bursts of muscular energy like in PE when you were at school. (try starjumps!)
